Suffolk Young People’s Theatre, founded by the late Ray Dyer, is unique. It is a ~ three week Summer School where young people aged between 14 and 21 years of age are challenged to develop a piece of theatre, worthy of public performance, in just ten days.
SYPT are now in preparation for our 31st ~production, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which will be presented from 28th July till 1st August at the Theatre Royal in Bury
St. Edmunds. Auditions for this year’s Company were held in May.
SYPT are rightly proud of the work produced, still in just ten days of preparation, and of achieving the highest standard in theatre.
Since its inception, over fifteen hundred young people have taken up our Summer School Challenge.
Suffolk Young People’s Theatre has helped many young teenagers to realise their dreams in the theatre, but more than that, it has taught them to work together as a team to achieve a common goal.
